RV Road Laws - 2011

Size Limitations: 13'6"; Width, 8'6"; Trailer length limited to 48' in 60' combined length; Motorhome length, 45'; Combined length, 60', on designated rural interstates some exceptions, trailer limted to 48' in a 60' combination. Triple towing is not permitted. Over length permit is available by calling 860-594-2880 for information.

Required Equipment: Safety chain, breakaway switch, fire extinguisher in RV, flares or reflective signs. Brakes on trailer weighing 3,000 pounds gross. Wipers/lights on when conditions require. Class D, non CDL license for motor homes.

Passengers may ride in pickup camper only. Overnight parking is as posted in state rest areas.

Trailers are not permitted on the Connecticut River ferry between Chester and Hadlyme. Trailers are not permitted on Wilbur Cross and Merrit Parkways. Motor homes are not permitted on Route 15, and the Merrit and Wilbur Cross Parkways.
